For A Good Cause

A few weeks ago I participated in a blog hop sponsored by Operation Write Home, an organization that collects hand-made only cards and ships them to our nation's heroes around the globe so they are able to send them home to their families.  They always need birthday, thinking of you, thank you, etc. and even cards with no sentiment that could be used as note cards.  They also accept cards for specific holidays which usually have a cut-off date.  The next holiday is Valentine's day and cards must be received by January 7, 2011.  If you have an excess of cards from blog postings that you may not be using for anything special and would like to donate to a very worthy cause, please visit their website here. Click on the "Welcome New Cardmakers" on the top left and check out how you can help.  There are three shippers who collect the cards and you can find the one nearest you to send your cards to.  They do have specific guidelines especially the one about NO GLITTER!!!  Glitter may endanger military personnel if it flakes off and gets on uniforms.  So if your stash has gotten out of hand and you don't know what to do with all the extra cards, take a look at the Operation Write Home website and see if you can help them out.  The cards are so appreciated by the military and their families.

Hi Patti and thanks for checking out my blog. Sounds like you are a very special person working to help make the soldiers' lives a little brighter.

Good for you, Patti! Thank you for sharing this opportunity with us! That is so interesting about the glitter, too...I never would've thought of that, but it totally makes sense!
