Amour in Black and White

Hello from the very rainy northeast.  With all the rain this April, we should have lots of May flowers.  My card today is based on the Friday Mashup Challenge 3, Black, White and Square.

I'm not a fan of square cards because of the extra postage it takes to mail them.  What I did with this was make it a 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" card so it will fit in the standard A2 envelope.  The base is Whisper White card stock.  I added a piece of the Basic Black designer paper and a piece of Whisper White card stock that was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and the Big Shot to Basic Black card stock.  A bow was made with Basic Black taffeta ribbon, adhered to the front with a Mini Glue Dot, and the tails attached to the back of the embossed layer.  The white embossed side edges were sponged with Basic Black ink.  I added two white brads to the lower corner and attached this layer to the card front.  The image was stamped with VersaMark on a piece of Whisper White card stock and heat embossed with black embossing powder.  I distressed the edges with the distressing tool in the Cutter Kit and matted it with Basic Black card stock.  Two black brads were added in the corner.  The sentiment from the same stamp set was stamped on Whisper White card stock with VersaMark, heat embossed with black embossing powder and punched out with the Decorative Label punch.  I trimmed off the lower edge of the punched sentiment, distressed the edges, sponged them with Basic Black ink and attached it to the back of the image layer.  The whole layer was popped up with dimensionals on the card front.  This was my first attempt using just black and white but it will definitely not be my last.  I hope you like it.

Hi Patti!

I love this card. Artistic Etchings is one of my favourite stamp sets yet I always struggle trying to find a way to use it.
