Racing to a Happy Birthday

My little pokey friend on today's card qualifies him for the Paper Players Challenge #64 which was a clean and simple card featuring a plant or an animal and the Hand Stamped Sentiments Technique Challenge #85 using embossing.  I just hope he makes it to the party before the next birthday.

The base is So Saffron textured card stock.  A piece of Just Add Cake designer paper was matted with Poppy Parade card stock.  I added Blushing Bride ribbon and attached this layer to the card front.  The turtle from the Turtle & Co. stamp set was heat
embossed on vellum card stock using VersaMark and black embossing powder.  I then colored him on the reverse side with Garden Green, Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip and Baja Breeze markers.  I cut him out with Paper Snips and attached him to a piece of Whisper White card stock.  The presents and hat from the same stamp set were stamped with Basic Black ink on a piece of Whisper White card stock and colored in with Baja Breeze,
Blushing Bride, So Saffron, Poppy Parade and Wild Wasabi markers.  I cut them both out and attached them to the image layer, using dimensionals for the presents.  Poppy Parade card stock was used to mat the image layer.  A So Saffron brad was added to the top of the party hat and the whole layer added to the card front with dimensionals.  I inked up the sentiment from the Happiest Birthday Wishes stamp set with Baja Breeze, Blushing Bride, Wild Wasabi, So Saffron and Poppy Parade markers and stamped it on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  This was punched out with the Decorative Label Punch.  I reinserted the sentiment in the punch and punched again so it would be smaller.  I trimmed off each side and matted it with a piece of Poppy Parade punched with the same punch.  Two So Saffron brads were added and this was attached over the ribbon with dimensionals.  Now he's ready to party.  I hope your day is sunny like it is here (at least for this minute it is).

When I was reading your description I really like the idea of embossing on vellum then coloring the other side. I've been wanting to try this. Your coloring looks so perfect. Lots of fine details. Great job! Such a fun and bright card. I hope he makes it to the party, too. :) Thank you for joining us at Hand Stamped Sentiments.
