Happy Birthday John

Today is my brother-in-law's birthday.  Coming up with guy cards is always a challenge but this stamp set is an old faithful.  I used three challenges for this card:  Rubber Redneck STAMPede Challenge #8, Perfect Sentiments Challenge #15 and Color Roundup
Challenge #60.  The Perfect Sentiments challenge was to do a birthday card with the emboss resist technique.  As you can see, I turned the sketch 90 degrees mainly to use the image I wanted.

I started by stamping the image from the Lovely As a Tree stamp set on a piece of Whisper White card stock with VersaMark and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I then heat embossed the clouds from the Up, Up and Away stamp set the same way.  I sponged Crumb Cake ink over the trees, Night of Navy ink over the clouds
for the sky and Old Olive ink over the ground area.  When the ink was dry, I rubbed a paper towel over the embossed areas to remove any ink residue.  I than matted the image with Night of Navy card stock.  The sentiment from the Happiest Birthday Wishes stamp set was heat embossed with Night of Navy craft ink and clear embossing powder on a piece of Crumb Cake designer paper.  I added circles punched from the 1/2" Circle punch to the bottom of the sentiment layer and attached it beneath the image.  I added Old Olive and Night of Navy brads on each side of the sentiment, attached this whole layer to a piece of Crumb Cake card stock and then added everything to the card base of Old Olive card stock.  I have attempted the emboss resist technique a couple of times but was never happy with the outcome.  This turned out okay but I will keep trying it until I'm super happy with the result.  I hope my brother-in-law likes the card (and that he got it in time).  Thanks again for your visit.  Enjoy what's left of the weekend.  Have some creative fun today.
