Frosty Lodge

Hi all.  Well, it's the start of another weekend.  We woke up to about three inches of snow this morning.  The weather report didn't even call for it.  Finally, some snow that amounted to more than a dusting.  It's disappearing fast though.  My card today is my weekly Christmas card for the Merry Monday Challenge #8.  I've also used the Our Creative Corner Color Challenge - Black and White with a splash of color.  It is also the second card that I made for the challenge.  The first one was a little too dreary (or as my husband said "nice card - would be a good sympathy card).  There's a small picture of that card further down.

For the card base I used Shimmery White card stock.  I then cut a piece of the same card stock with the Big Shot and the Edgelits dies.  Both pieces were embossed in the Big Shot with the Snow Burst embossing folder.  I added a ruffled piece of Always Artichoke seam binding along the edge of the larger of the two pieces and attached it to the card front.  The smaller piece of the embossed card stock was added below that leaving a little space between the two.  The image from the retired Christmas Lodge stamp set was heat embossed on Shimmery White card stock with VersaMark and Black embossing powder and cut out with a Labels Framelit die.  A piece of Basic Black card stock was cut out with a larger Framelit die to use as a mat for the image layer.  The image was attached to the black mat using double glue dots (one on top of another).  I wanted to raise the image just a little and dimensionals would have been too much.  This whole layer was then added to the card with dimensionals.  Dazzling Details was added to the snow on the lodge and along the ground.  The sentiment from the Teeny
the other card
Tiny Wishes stamp set was stamped on Shimmery White card stock with Always Artichoke ink.  I punched it out with the Modern Label Punch but punching the top first and then re-inserting it to punch the bottom.  I trimmed off the sides and matted it with a piece of Basic Black card stock that was also punched out with the Modern Label punch.  It was attached using dimensionals.  Rhinestones were added to the image mat and to the sentiment.  I am much happier with this card than the first one.  Think about getting a jump on your Christmas cards this year.  Check out the new challenge every Monday and when December rolls around, you won't have to be too frantic trying to get them done.  Have a great weekend.  Hope you get to fill it with fun and creativity.

Patti, both of your cards are beautiful! You added the perfect pop of color to both cards! I have to say that that bling on the first card stopped me in my tracks. You can never have to much bling! Thank you very much for joining us this week at Our Creative Corner! :)
