Happy Graduation

Last Saturday my lovely daughter-in-love graduated with her doctorate in Psychology.  Needless to say we are very proud of her achievement.  In the midst of it all, she became engaged to our son and planned what she calls "the best day in my life - so far" wedding.  This is the card I made to commemorate her success.  The school colors are red, black and white.  The bright blue was the color on her hood they place over her shoulders when she receives her diploma.

The card is based on the Pals Paper Arts Challenge #135.

For the base I chose Whisper White card stock.  I added a piece of Real Red card stock to the top and a piece of Summer Smooches designer paper on the bottom.  On top of the designer paper is a piece of Real Red card stock matted with Basic Black card stock.  The sentiment is from the long retired Tassel Time stamp set that was heat embossed using VersaMark, retired Brilliant Blue ink and clear embossing powder.  It was matted with a piece of retired Brilliant Blue card stock and attached to the card with dimensionals.  The mortar board was made by first punching a 1-3/4" circle from Basic Black card stock.  I trimmed off part of the circle and punched the curved parts with the 3/4" Circle Punch.  The top piece was cut in a diamond shape out of Basic Black card stock using the Paper Cutter.  I attached it to the other piece.  The tassel was made from embroidery thread and attached using a gold brad.  It was popped up with dimensionals on the card.  The diploma was made from Whisper White card stock.  I broke down the fibers using a Bone Folder.  When it was flexible enough, I rolled it up and tied it with retired gold elastic cord.  Glue dots were used to attach it to the card.  She loved her card.  I hope you're having a great holiday weekend and finding some fun creative time.  See you soon.
