Ornament of Ribbon

Time for this week's Christmas card for the Merry Monday Challenge #28.  It's great to know that I've completed half a year with this challenge after missing the first week.

The idea for the ornament part of the card came from a post I saw on Dawn Griffith's blog here.  She has a great video explaining how to use ribbon scraps for the ornament.  My card base is Cherry Cobbler card stock.  Following her directions, I punched the  ornament shape out a piece of Be of Good Cheer designer paper with the Ornament Punch.  I temporarily adhered it to the Very Vanilla mat and traced lightly around the opening with a
pencil.  The designer paper was removed and adhesive was added to the Very Vanilla card stock over the traced ornament.  I then added pieces of Cherry Cobbler ribbon on a diagonal to cover the adhesive.  I sponged around the open edges of the ornament on the designer paper with Cherry Cobbler ink.  The designer paper was then attached to the Very Vanilla card stockCherry Cobbler Baker's Twine was threaded through the designer paper and Very Vanilla mat near the neck of the ornament with a large-eye needle leaving both ends free to tie in a bow.  This layer was then attached to the card front.  The sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set was stamped on Very Vanilla card stock and matted with Cherry Cobbler card stock.  The left edge was punched using one of the curved edges of the Ornament Punch so it would line up with the edge of the ornament on the card.  Pearls were colored with a Gumball Green marker and added to the sentiment and the twine bow.  This was a very simple card to make and I love having a way to use up ribbon scraps.  This technique can be easily used with other punches and dies.  Thanks again for your visit.  Enjoy the upcoming weekend.

REMINDER:  Today is the last day to leave a comment for a chance at the blog candy shown here.  Comments may be left on any post between Tuesday and Friday of this week.

Patti, I always look forward to your cards and you definitely didn't disappoint with this one! I love your ribbon ornament with the sweet bow and pearl. How do you keep the ink from rubbing off the pearls? I haven't had much success with using my SU Markers to color them. Thanks for sharing with us again this week at Merry Monday!
