Good Friday morning everyone. As you can see, I have a Christmas card for you today. There was no Merry Monday challenge last week so I knew I would be in the mood to make a card this week. This card is based on the Merry Monday Challenge #59 and the 52 (Christmas) Card Throwdown April Technique Challenge - Use Punches.
I chose Gumball Green card stock for the card base. I embossed the front using two of the Ovals Framelits by placing them on the card front with the cutting edges up and running them through the Big Shot. It's hard to see in the photo but you get two different levels of raised ovals. I then used the same two dies to cut out an oval from the Snow Festival designer paper which I placed around the center raised oval. Is this clear to anyone; I did it and I'm confused. I then added a piece of the same
designer paper and a piece of Gumball Green ribbon (snipped one end for the pennant effect) to a strip of Whisper White card stock and added it to the card. The Santa was made using the following: Face - Large Oval Punch and Blushing Bride card stock; Hat & hat brim - Extra Large Oval Punch using Red Glimmer paper and Whisper White card stock; Beard - Ornament Punch using Whisper White card stock and run through the Big Shot with the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder; Mustache - Bird Builder Punch using Whisper White card stock and the same embossing folder; Nose - Itty Bitty Shapes Punch using Blushing Bride card stock and sponged around the edges with Blushing Bride ink; Mouth - Owl Builder Punch using Blushing Bride card stock; Top of hat - Itty Bitty Shapes Punch using Whisper White card stock. I sponged Frost White Shimmer Paint on the raised part of the beard and mustache and on the hat topper. Glue Dots were used to attach the pieces together. He was attached to the card with Dimensionals. The final touch was the Googlies for the eyes. The Santa is based on one I saw on Jill Hilliard's blog here. He certainly was fun and easy to put together. Enjoy your weekend. We've been having some beautiful weather in the Northeast - I hope it lasts.
