Happy Birthday Gatefold

This card was made for my older son's girlfriend who is celebrating her birthday today.  The challenges I used are the Seize the Birthday July Challenge - Anything Goes and LateNightStampers Challenge #228 - Fancy Folds.

I won't go into all the details on how to make this gatefold window card but you can find a great tutorial for it on Becky Muir's blog hereNaturals Ivory card stock was used for the base.  Birthday Basics was the designer paper I used.  The cut out on the front was made using the Labels Collection Framelits and the Big Shot.  I ran a scrap piece of
Soft Suede card stock through a paper crimper and punched it the cupcake paper with the Cupcake Builder punch and added it to the inside of the card.  The frosting was made using a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  First I used VersaMark and Heat and Stick powder.  When the powder was melted, I
added Dazzling Diamonds and heat it again to set it.  I then punched out the frosting with the same punch and added it to the inside with Dimensionals.  The    candle and flame were punched out of Bermuda Bay and Summer Starfruit card stocks and attached them with rolled up glue dots.  A dab of Crystal Effects was added to the flame.  The balloons on the front of the card were punched out of Bermuda Bay, Summer Starfruit and Strawberry Slush card stocks using the Small Oval PunchWhite Baker's Twine was added to the back of each.  Dimensionals were used to attach them to the card.  I tied a bow using a piece of baker's twine to hold the ends together and added a glue dot to hold it in place.  The sentiment from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set was heat embossed on Naturals Ivory card stock using VersaMark, Crisp Cantaloupe ink and Clear Embossing Powder.  I cut out the sentiment and a piece of Bermuda Bay card stock using the Big Shot and the Bitty Banners Framelits.  I trimmed the sentiment and matted it with the Bermuda Bay piece.  It was added to the card with Dimensionals and Rhinestones were added for a little more bling.  Crystal Effects was used on all the balloons (doesn't show in photo) to give them a shiny look.  I stamped the sentiment from the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set on the inside with Soft Suede ink.  Wow, that's a lot of describing but this wasn't one of my clean and simple cards.  I really had fun making this style of card; your possibilities are endless with all the designer papers out there.  It's a great way to use up all the pieces I'm sure you have lying around.  Thanks for coming by.  I hope your week is off to a good start.  Will see you again soon.
