Dressed Up for Christmas Eve
These blinged out shoes are what I imagine the well-dressed elf would wear Christmas eve to celebrate the completion of all the hard work they had been doing. I've seen these on blogs for a couple of years and have wanted to give them a try. This is one of the cards we are making in my class this weekend. They're pretty simple to do; check out the great video tutorial by Julie Cluff here. I used her tutorial because I liked the scalloped edge around the shoe top.
My card base is Gumball Green card stock. I added a layer of Whisper White card stock run through the Big Shot with the Petals-a-plenty embossing folder. The shoes are made from Cherry Cobbler card stock and cut using the Top Note Bigz Die; you get two pairs from each top note. One thing I would do is sponge the edges of the shoes with Cherry Cobbler ink; I think it would highlight them better. Oh well, that's what hindsight is for. The toe toppers and ankle trim are punched from Silver Glimmer Paper. The long socks are from the retired Snow Festival designer paper. Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine was used for the bows on the shoes. The sentiment from the More Merry Messages stamp set was stamped on Whisper White card stock using Gumball Green ink and punched out with the Modern Label Punch. I punched two more pieces from Cherry Cobbler card stock to mat the sentiment; cut off the ends of one and attach to the sentiment; cut the other one in half lengthwise and mat the top and bottom of the sentiment. I popped it up on the card with Dimensionals. Such a fun card to put together and so cheerful. I hope your weekend is off to a good start. Check back to see the other two cards we made in the card class.
