Make a Wish

Good Sunday morning to all.  Today I have a one-layer birthday card.  I found this new challenge called One-Layer Simplicity Challenge and their first challenge is to replenish your card stash with cards you are low on.  I need some guy birthday cards over next two months so this is the first one I came up with.  I also used the Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge #285.  A little license was taken with the direction of the sketch.

My card base is Pool Party card stock.  The first thing I did was use the Pennants Framelits Dies and the Big Shot to cut one pennant out of scrap paper to use as a mask.  The sentiment from the Perfect Pennants stamp set was stamped on the card with Basic Gray ink.  The sentiment was then masked with the scrap pennant using temporary adhesive.  The stripes from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set were stamped using Bermuda Bay ink.  I then masked the stripes with some scrap paper.  The spots and splotches from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set were stamped using Smoky Slate ink.  I removed the masks and used the same die used for the mask to draw the pennant around the sentiment with the Bermuda Bay marker.  As the finishing touch, I added retired Pool Party baker's twine to the retired Silver Designer button and attached it to the card with Glue Dots.  One-layer cards are the biggest challenge for me but I think that's what draws me to them.  Designer paper and embellishments always call out to me so there's a lot of self-control going on.  I appreciate you stopping by.  Enjoy your day.
