Is It Spring Yet?

Here in the northeast winter is still hanging on but the beginning of March brings hope for warmer days.  My card today has a little springtime flair based on two challenges:  Paper Craft Crew Tic Tac Toe Challenge #282 and the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #261.  For the tic tac toe challenge I used the center column of living creature (butterfly), elements of springtime (leaves, butterfly, bright colors) and vellum (butterfly and sentiment).

Card Base:  Whisper White Thick CS cut 4-1/4" x 11"; score at 5-1/2".  Ran a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White CS through the Big Shot with the Layered Leaves Embossing folder.  Since this card will be going through the mail, I added a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of fun foam to the back of the layer for support and attached it to the base with Fast Fuse.

Image & Sentiment:  On a piece of Vellum CS, I stamped the large 3-step butterfly from the Watercolor Wings stamp set with Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach and Perfect Plum Inks.  The body was stamped using Basic Black Archival Ink.  The butterfly was cut out with the Bold Butterfly Framelits.  Before attaching it to the card with Glue Dots, I gently creased it on both sides of the body so the wings would be dimensional.  The sentiment from the Sweet Cupcake stamp set was heat embossed on Vellum CS with Versamark and Black Embossing Powder.  I then cut it out with the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  With a Bone Folder I curled the center and then the ends in the opposite direction.  It was attached with Glue Dots.

The Finishing Touches:  I added two retired Daffodil Delight Enamel Shapes to the sentiment.  Clear Wink of Stella was added to the butterfly body.

Hopefully we'll all be seeing beautiful butterflies in our yards soon.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.  Please stop by for a visit again.

I love how the vellum softens the colors of the butterfly. It's so pretty against the embossed background! Thanks so much for sharing your card with us at CC&S! :) I hope you'll join us again soon for another challenge.
