Yes, bloggers, this is a Christmas card.  Lesley Croghan has a new challenge called Merry Monday and the idea is to create one Christmas card a week so you don't go into overload at the end of the year.  Believe it or not, I enjoyed making this card because there was no pressure.  I don't need it for another 11 months.  This is based on the Merry Monday #2 Challenge and The Rubber Redneck STAMPede Challenge #7
When I saw this challenge I knew just what I wanted to do.  My card base is Riding Hood Red card stock.  A piece of Naturals Ivory card stock was run through the Big Shot with the Snow Burst embossing folder.  I punched a strip of Basic Black card stock with the Scallop Edge Border punch and attached it to the embossed layer.  Retired Riding Hood Red striped ribbon was added above the scallops.  The whole layer was added to the card
front.  Santa from the Jolliest Time of the Year stamp set was stamped on Watercolor paper with black StazOn ink.  I used an Aqua Painter and Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Baja Breeze (the snow and flakes) and Blushing Bride (his cheeks and nose) inks to water color him.  His belt buckle was heat embossed using the VersaMarker and silver embossing powder.  Dazzling Details were used on the snow and the snowflakes.  Dazzling Diamonds were added to his suit, hat and beard using a glue pen.  The sentiment from the retired Christmas Classics stamp set was also heat embossed using VersaMark ink and black embossing powder.  I matted the image with Basic Black card stock and used dimensionals to attach it to the card.  This was such a simple sketch to work with that I made two of the same card.  You have to check out this challenge.  You may not be able to take it on each week, but any cards done over the next 11 months will make Christmas 2012 less daunting.  Have fun being creative this weekend.  See you soon.
